Self hardening furan resin binder sand process is a molding method that uses furan resin for casting as a binder and adds a catalyst to self-curing at room temperature. Self hardening furan resin binder sand process has been used in my country since the 1980s. Due to self hardening furan resin binder good disintegration, self-hardening characteristics and high dimensional accuracy of the produced castings, self hardening furan resin binder has been widely used in wind power, machine tools, pumps and valves. With the continuous improvement of casting quality and environmental protection requirements, high strength, low gas emission and environmental protection are the main development directions of self hardening furan resin sand process.

• The amount of resin added can be reduced, and pore defects can be minimized by using environmentally-friendly furan resin binder.

• During curing, environmentally-friendly furan resin releases 30–50% less formaldehyde, producing less irritating odor during molding and core making.

• With the same usage time, the curing agent dosage can be lowered by 10–20%, and environmentally-friendly furan resin keeps the sulfur content of the molding sand low.

How to use


• Sand mixing process

First add the curing agent to the original sand (recycled sand), then add furan resin for casting. After the mixing is completed, the core or molding should be made immediately.

• Amount of furan resin for casting and curing agent added

Due to the large differences in the quality of the original sand and recycle sand used by each manufacturer, the size and complexity of the mold and core are different, the amount of furan resin for casting added should be based on the principle of meeting production needs.

• Curing speed control

When adjusting the curing speed, the curing agent can be changed by changing the amount of curing agent added, changing the curing agent with different acidity, or blending the curing agent with different acidity.
