Low Furfuryl Resin
Widely applied in the foundry industry, furan resin serves as a key binder for sand cores. As a general term for resins containing furan rings, low furfuryl resin is primarily synthesized through the polycondensation of furfuryl alcohol or furfural under strong acid catalysis. Furfuryl alcohol resin, a thermosetting material, features furan rings within its molecular chain. However, the short storage life of low furfuryl resin has long restricted its broader industrial application. To address this limitation, we have extended the shelf life of low VOC furan resins by refining the formulation and optimizing the production process—achieving more sustainable and environmentally friendly production.
Introduction
Since the early 1960s, synthetic resins have been used to produce sand cores/molds for large castings. The process of no-bake resin binder can effectively reduce emissions and no-bake resin binder can be recycled by using a low-sulfur system. The basic molding material of no-bake resin binder has a high reuse rate. No-bake resin binder is environmentally friendly and no-bake resin can improve production efficiency. No-bake resin has a low defect tendency and good casting effect.
